Photographer Research - Jonas Kekko

"letting go"
I like this picture because it shows how now a days people are becoming too caught up with their work and things that they aren't actually interested in. We can see this because of the way he is in a suit and holding a briefcase. I like how he is flying away into the light, it portrays how he is letting go of his previous life where he wasn't happy. The sun works very nicely in this picture because to me, it represents the life he wants to have, the light is his freedom. I therefore think this picture is very clever in the way it has been thought out and manipulated.

"don't look back, or you won't see where you're going"
This picture has the denotations of a girl running down a path and she is looking backwards instead of where she is going. You can also subtly see multiple red eyes within the darkness in the forest that she is leading to. The connotations of this are that when you look to your past, and the places you have been, it stops you from knowing where your going and you could find yourself somewhere you don't want to be. I like how this picture uses tone, especially since the background uses such dark tones, it makes the girl stand out a lot more.

"seeking power"
The denotations of this picture is a man standing on top of an 'old swiss ruin' and he claimed it was shot right before a storm to achieve the lightening. The connotations are suggested in the name of the picture; seeking power. The man in the picture is willing to go to extreme measures for power. This shows a hunger and strive that people have for the want to have power over people. I like the way this picture shows depth, and how it is taken from below the ruined building so we are looking up at the man; this to me, subtly suggests that because he wants power, he wants to be above everyone else, which he is in the picture.

"wanting more…"
The denotations is a girl sitting in what appears to be a caravan, looking out a window, and another girl sitting behind her on her phone. When describing this picture, he said "Time wasted polishing our digital image, could be spend creating a beautiful reality. Time is priceless, spend it wisely." This shows that he wanted to achieve the connotations of people being too caught up in their digital life that they forget that there is a whole life outside of that, that they are forgetting to focus on. I think he has achieved this very well through one girl being on her phone and the other girl looking out the window, it shows that girl wants to live her life outside of her phone and wants life to have more meaning. The way the lightning works in this picture I think is very clever. This is because they are sitting in a room of darkness, this could represent their lifestyle, and how the window is the most highlighted and illuminated part of the picture, to me, portrays the good and fulfilling life they could be having, but because they are only looking through a window, they can't actually have this life.
